I don't think that the E60 as a model has more problems than any other BMW model. Yes I have had HPFP issues on my car outside of that it has been perfect. E60 Coolant dissappearing Help needed. Hi guys , hoping you can help me with a real weird problem. So a few weeks ago I noticed my coolant was disappearing and there was gunk on the coolant cap (pic attached). There were no visible leaks so my local indy had a look and told me the water pump was faulty and there was a leak near it.

The problem is actually a brake issue, and is caused by there being insufficient clearance between the back of the brake disc and the wheel-bearing flange. This means that they brush together each and every time the disc rotates with the wheel. However, there is a fix, and it’s quite an easy one.
